Alan Greenspan: Fed Chairman, Economist, Musician, Lover

Tuesday marks the end of an era for the Federal Reserve. Chairman Alan Greenspan is stepping down after nearly 20 years with the Fed. Sure, we know he presided over a period of low interest rates and was nominated by Democrat and Republican presidents alike, but who is Alan Greenspan?
Alan Greenspan was born in 1926, a year best known for the first flight over the north pole, the creation of a system for recording sound onto film, the death of Harry Houdini, Turkey’s conversion to the Gregorian calendar, the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, and the abolition of slavery by the League of Nations.
He attended Julliard from 1943-1944 as a saxophonist, but transferred to NYU to receive a B.S. and M.A. in Economics. He was later awarded two honorary Ph.D.s from the school. But Greenspan’s life truly began in 1997, when he bagged a celebrity wife 20 years younger than him. Alan Greenspan, we wish you a happy retirement!

He hasn’t really done anything since he became the Fed chairman, and that’s not great for America. […]
